As a child growing up in Southern California I was exposed to surfing and skateboarding at a very young age. One of my best friends during my teens became a professional surfer and parlayed his knowledge of the surf industry, art industry and the hand-shaped surfboard into a unique company called Chemistry Surfboards. He and I worked on many iterations to arrive at the final logo design. The design successfully created a unique identity amongst a saturated and competitive surf industry. Designed over ten years ago, the logo still retains its nuance and longevity.

Pelican Replacement Windows contacted me at the beginning of last year to assist with rebranding their company logo and marketing collateral. The previous logo was very illustrative and playful in the tone that many designs of the 1970’s are. Although it was used for many years, the design was dated and no longer represented their company – the company of 2010. Their mission was to modernize and simplify their identity in a way that was compelling, elegant and would stand the test of time.

Revolution Salon | Boutique just opened their doors for business about one month ago. They are located in Carlsbad, California. Within a 3 mile radius there are over 250 salons. They desired a stylish word mark that would separate them from the pack. Yearning to start a revolution, I utilized my hand lettering background and morphed custom scripts with classic letter forms. The end result is a whimsical and lively logo that taps into youthful and hip sensibilities.
