Introduction
Typography has always interested me and influenced my creative work. This website contains my portfolio of graphic design, painting, photography and beginning web design. The graphic design section includes signatures, logos, t-shirt graphics, illustration, cd covers, posters and conceptual pieces. The Fine Art section of the site contains photos of my painting done with acrylic. The artwork has been done on various surfaces and sizes.
Design Process
Typecycle is a website that is dedicated to type-centric art and design. Usually there is an organic element to every design. Computers and digital technology have given us amazing tools to produce work yet some of the natural and hand made aspects of art and design have become secondary. I use calligraphy brushes, paint markers, spray paint, stencils, pens, pencils and tracing paper to initiate the design. Once I have refined the design on paper, I scan it and rework it in Illustrator.
About Me
I was raised in Southern California. My interests as a youth were sports and art. At 10 years old, I began to skateboard and that continued for 15 years. I moved to Colorado in 1995 and attended a community college and studied graphic design and illustration. I graduated in 1997 with two AA degrees. I then worked as a graphic artist for a company in Colorado Springs. After a few years of working I decided to attend Colorado State University Pueblo and enrolled in their graphic design program. I am nearing completion of a BFA degree in graphic design.
